About me - and Canopy Insights
I’m Bess Tschantz-Hahn, founder of Canopy Insights. I help organizations listen well, make sense of what they hear, and turn employee insight into practical action.
For more than 30 years, I have helped organizations navigate change, strengthen culture, and improve employee experience and engagement through employee listening and organizational research. As a Principal Consultant at Mercer, I partnered with hundreds of organizations across industries to create, evolve, and strengthen their employee listening programs. As an employee of one of the largest banks in the US and as an employee of one of California’s largest cities, I led employee listening and change efforts, using employee feedback and input to help navigate multiple mergers, acquisitions, organizational transformations, and court-mandated reforms.
I bring a systems perspective to employee listening, viewing it as an organizational capability rather than a series of surveys. Effective listening programs use a variety of approaches - including surveys, interviews, focus groups, virtual discussions, and ongoing feedback channels - to gather meaningful insights, maintain employee engagement, and listen at the pace of change.
Through Canopy Insights, I help organizations align their listening strategies with their business ojectives, uncover actionable insights, and create practical solutions that improve both employee experience and organizational performance.
